Sept 08 to present

NPM Leisure, acting as consultant to the leisure industry within the UK and abroad undertaking strategic development, assisting with acquisitions, developing DSS applications (Decision Support System) using Excel

 

 

June 09 to Sept 08

Gaming Director, Rileys Ltd responsible for the gaming activity with c £10m turnover within 160 proprietary clubs, managing 14 suppliers and responsible for all related activity including legal, income growth, expansion, cost control, budgeting. Corporate financial issues resulted in redundancy.

 

 

June 01 to March 08

Operations Manager, Crown Leisure. Strategic, operational & business development role within a multi-site environment. Responsible for Southern England. t/o of c.£20M, 170 staff, maximising profit via; managing national & customer accounts, driving sales, cost control, systems management & development asset management, managing standards, introducing & maintaining business procedures, recruitment & training, administration, marketing, promotion, H&S  and ensuring legal compliance

 

 

Sept 2000 to June 01

General Manager Eastbourne Pier, (6 month contract extended to 10 months) P&L responsible for £3M t/o business, £800k operating profit, 90 staff encompassing retail, bars, night club.  (transferred within group to above position)

 

 

Nov 99 to Sept 2000

Self Employed consultant, specialising in Music Systems to Pub Retail and managing income of single site machines within various pub & hotel groups

 

 

Dec 98 to Nov 99

Partner and Licensee of successful food led pub/restaurant, £250k t/o. Sold business following exceptional (and unsolicited) offer.

Regional Manager S&N Retail – managing gaming interests of 600 managed and tenancy pubs with £18M machine t/o, negotiating supply contracts, managing suppliers, working with Marketing and Training. Last two years - increasing involvement in brand development, strategic direction, budgeting and forecasting.

 

 

Feb 89 to Sept 91

Commercial Manager (Director Designate), Carrington Leisure. Set up all operations and infrastructure of new company (finance, personnel, systems, administration etc). Achieved rapid expansion supplying gaming and photographic services within holiday industry. Carrington Leisure was acquired by competitor.

Thomas Automatics – Regional Manager. Briefly left Bass Leisure for 9 months to cover Coventry, Northampton, Bedford (6) large centres. Rejoined Bass Leisure as Area Manager

 

 

March 79 to Feb 89

Bass Leisure. Development Manager to 1989, Regional Manager to 1987, Area Manager to 1986, Security Manager to 1984, Area Supervisor/Unit Manager to 1981.

Fast track promotion culminating in development post, identifying growth opportunities both organically and by acquisition. Dealing with contract negotiation, local authorities (planning/licensing), customer directors, control of capex (up to £15M acquisitions) and revenue expenditure. Previously in operational roles ending up as Regional Manager.
